Getting around Grand Bahama Island is easy and affordable. There are several types of transportation available. Rental cars, motor scooters, buses and taxis – even water taxis – are the most common means of getting around. Some hotels will even offer bicycles to their guests.
Minibuses:
The jitney minibuses are the most popular means of transportation in Freeport. The average cost to get from the Freeport Airport (FPO) to Taino Beach Resort and Flamingo Bay Hotel and Marina is about $27 each way for two people, with an extra $3 per additional passenger. Roundtrip transportation from Freeport Airport (FPO) to the Freeport Cruise Port is $87.42
Water Taxis:
For about $5 per person, you can ride a water Taxi from the Flamingo Bay Hotel and Marina to Treasure Bay Casino and Port Lucaya Marketplace. Some hotels will offer transportation for getting around, however this is not always available. Flamingo Bay Hotel and Marina provides a ferryboat that leaves their the dock every hour on the hour going into Port Lucaya from 8:00am -11:00pm. The cost is $2.50 one way per person.
Auto Taxis:
It’s easy to find a taxi in Freeport, and they are usually a better option than driving on your own. However, prepare for a bumpy ride. Some cabs are in poor condition, and some roads as well.
